|Description:||This course is an introduction to modern developments in molecular biology and genetic engineering and a discussion of recent developments in the law of patents. The scientific sessions will consider DNA and its replication and expression in both bacteria and higher cells; regulation, differentiation and development; cloning; genetic libraries and screening techniques; and characterizing and altering cloned DNA. The legal sessions will focus on various aspects of patent law in the field of biotechnology, particularly following the judgment in the Kirin-Amgen v TKT case.
